Frequently Asked Questions

What is the attire for the dance?

Students must be in school dress code to attend. In prior years, many students "dressed to impress" such as girls in dresses and boys in button-down shirts and often a tie. But, this is certainly not required. Our goal is for the students to have a good time.

Our theme this year is Go Western (Rodeo Sweethearts).

Should my child come to school dressed for the dance?

It is best if students wear their dance attire to school that day. Students who choose to bring their clothes to dress after the dance will have a designated area to leave their dance clothes. There will also be designated areas for students to "tidy up" after school.

Of course, students are welcome to leave after school and return to the dance anytime after 5:30. These students should enter through the front of the school when they return.

Are parents allowed at the dance?

Unfortunately, we do not have room to accommodate both students and parents at the dance. We will, however, have a photo booth set-up near the front office, and parents are welcome to come in and take pictures of their child and/or their friends. We will also do our best to take pictures and post them to our Facebook page throughout the dance.

We will be looking for a few volunteers to assist with food distribution and restroom monitoring. We will have teachers and staff members in the gym to chaperone the dance.

When will my child receive their tickets?

We will be distributing wristbands for entrance to the dance and tickets for refreshments at some point during the day of the dance.

Students will receive two wristbands; one for entry to the dance and one for the food included in the entry fee.

We will be asking students to put the wristbands on as soon as they receive them. They should also put their refreshment tickets in a safe place until the start of the dance.

Where will my child keep his/her backpack and other belongings during the dance?

We will lock students' backpacks and items in a designated classroom. Students will not be allowed back in the room to pick-up any items, so they need to keep their refreshment tickets, cell phones and any other items they anticipate needing during the dance with them.

Can students have their cell phone during the dance?

Yes, students can have their cell phones during the dance. Any inappropriate use of the phone will result in confiscation of the device.

Are parent chaperones needed?

We do not need parent chaperones in the dance. We have staff members who will be in the gym.

We will, however, have a few spots available for parents to assist with food distribution. An email will be sent next week for sign-up.
