Dear Wertheimer Families,
I am incredibly grateful for the warm welcome I have received as the new principal of Wertheimer Middle School. It is truly an honor to serve this community, and I am excited about the journey ahead as we continue working together to support the success and growth of every Hawk!
Over the past three weeks, I have been intentional about getting to know our campus. I have had the privilege of meeting one-on-one with staff members, listening to their experiences, learning about their work, and sharing in their commitment to our students. I have also spent time visiting classrooms, where I’ve seen firsthand the strong instruction, meaningful relationships, and engaging learning experiences that take place every day. Being present in classrooms and around campus has been one of the most rewarding parts of my transition.
One highlight of my first weeks was experiencing my first Innovative Club Day. It was inspiring to watch students enthusiastically participate in activities they selected based on their interests. From the Design Club ironing designs they created onto their t-shirts, to the Pre‑Athletics Club preparing for junior high athletics, to students stuffing plastic eggs with stickers and candy to donate to Lunches of Love, it was clear that our students are creative, compassionate, and eager to learn beyond the classroom. Seeing their joy, collaboration, and pride reinforced just how special this campus is.
As we move forward, I am excited about what’s to come. I look forward to continuing to build strong relationships with students, staff, and families, and to partnering with you as we support our students’ academic needs and their well-being. Thank you for entrusting us with your children each day and for being such an important part of Wertheimer Middle School.
I am proud to be a Wertheimer Hawk and cannot wait to see all that we will accomplish together.
With gratitude and excitement,
Leslie Spencer
Principal, Wertheimer Middle School
