An "A" Rated Start to the Year!

Dear Wertheimer Families,
What an incredible way to begin the 2026-2027 school year! We are thrilled to share that Wertheimer Middle School has officially been recognized by the Texas Education Agency as an A-Rated Campus! This achievement is a testament to the hard work, dedication, and commitment of our students, staff, and families. We are so proud of what our community has accomplished together, and we are excited to "Lock In!" and build on that success this year.
Our first week of school was filled with energy, learning, and many reasons to celebrate. Most importantly, our students have done an incredible job beginning their middle school journey. Each day, they are becoming more confident navigating their schedules, finding their classes, and transitioning through the hallways more efficiently. It has been amazing to watch their growth in such a short amount of time!
During the first three days of school, students participated in Hawk Camp, where we focused on setting our kiddos up for success. Students learned and practiced important procedures and expectations related to:
- Dismissal and arrival routines
- Hallway and restroom expectations
- Cafeteria procedures
- Our PBIS SOAR expectations
- Safety drill procedures
- Hawk Time Advisory
- Dress Code
- And much more!
These lessons and experiences are helping students become comfortable with the routines and expectations that support a safe, successful, and positive learning environment.
As we head into week two, I simply want to say how proud I am of our Hawks. Starting middle school comes with a lot of new routines, expectations, and responsibilities, and our students have risen to the challenge. Every day, we see them becoming more confident, finding their classes a little faster, navigating the hallways more independently, and settling into the rhythm of middle school life. We still have learning and growing to do, but our Hawks are off to a fantastic start, and we are excited to see all they accomplish this year.
Thank you for your continued encouragement and support. Together, we are creating an exceptional experience for every student at Wertheimer.

The day before our very first day of school, the Wertheimer staff came together for a special "Lock In" commitment moment. Each staff member placed a lock on our Lock In fence and wrote their name along with a word or phrase that represents their commitment to our students and the school year ahead. These locks serve as a visible reminder that we are dedicated to supporting, encouraging, and believing in EVERY Hawk who walks through our doors.
Now, we'd love for our students, families, and community members to join us! Bring a lock, add it to our fence, and write a word, goal, or commitment that represents what it means for you to "Lock In with the Hawks" this year. Then, snap a picture and share it on Facebook, tagging Wertheimer Middle School so we can celebrate your commitment alongside ours.

This year's Open House is scheduled for Tuesday, August 25th, from 5:30 – 7:30 PM. The format of our Open House is a come and go atmosphere. You may arrive and leave at any time during the 5:30 – 7:30 time frame. During the evening, you can meet your child's teachers and learn about the amazing things your student experiences each day. |
Dear Gold Complex Families,
We would like to provide an update regarding traffic flow and campus access at the Foster HS, Briscoe JH, and Wertheimer MS complex.
The Texas Department of Transportation (TxDOT) has informed Lamar CISD of updated traffic patterns along FM 723 serving the Gold Complex. While these roadway projects are managed by TxDOT, Lamar CISD continues to work closely with their team to advocate for our students, staff, and families and to help ensure the safest and smoothest traffic flow possible.
Please review the attached updated traffic maps for your child's campus:
Foster High School
- Foster High School will follow its normal traffic pattern.
Briscoe Junior High
- Traffic will enter Briscoe through the front north entrance/exit.
- Drivers should stay to the right and follow the curb line all the way to the end of the south parking lot.
- Traffic will then be directed back toward the front circle drive for student drop-off and pickup.
- Once drop-off or pickup is complete, traffic will continue along the curb line and exit through the same north entrance/exit where it entered.
- Traffic exiting the north entrance/exit may turn either left or right onto FM 723.
Wertheimer Middle School
- All traffic should enter through the Beadle Lane traffic signal.
- Northbound traffic (from Rosenberg) will have a dedicated right-turn lane into the campus.
- Southbound traffic (from Fulshear) will have a dedicated left-turn lane into the campus.
- After exiting the car rider circle, drivers may:
- Turn left and use the traffic signal to travel either northbound or southbound on FM 723, or
- Turn right toward the rear of the complex.
- This traffic pattern is similar to the traffic flow used in previous school years.
Important Reminders
- No stopping, standing, or parking is permitted on roadways behind the campuses.
- No vehicles may enter or park in designated bus loading areas.
- Vehicles may only stop in pickup/drop-off lines or in marked parking spaces.
- Please follow all traffic signs, signals, and directions from law enforcement and campus staff.
- Allow extra travel time as families adjust to the updated traffic pattern.

We love showing support to our Hawks both on campus and off! Several of our Wertheimer students participated in the softball and baseball middle school matchup last weekend. They proudly wore their jerseys to school this past Friday! |
Our Beginning-of-Year MAP Testing will take place August 24-27. All MAP Testing will occur in your student's Math and ELAR classrooms with their teacher. At Wertheimer Middle School, we know that a strong school-home partnership plays an important role in helping students develop positive habits and be successful both academically and socially. We greatly appreciate your support as we work together to reinforce campus expectations with our Hawks.
Please take a few moments to talk with your kiddo about the importance of arriving to class on time, leaving toys and personal play items at home, and wearing their student ID every day. Beginning Monday, August 31st, we will begin issuing consequences for arriving late to class and for failure to wear IDs. Until then, we will continue to provide a grace period and reminders as they adjust.
Student IDs are part of our district and campus dress code expectations and are an important tool for maintaining a safe and secure learning environment. Beginning Monday, August 31, students who forget their ID will receive three "free" warning sticker IDs. After those warnings have been used, students will be charged $1.00 for each sticker ID they are issued (see the graphic below).
In addition, campus tardy consequences will also begin on Monday, August 31st, as we work to establish strong habits that support learning and minimize disruptions to instruction.
For the next two weeks, we will continue reminding and supporting students as they continue to learn our campus. Thank you for partnering with us to help our students build responsibility, accountability, and positive routines.

This Friday, all students will participate in a Student Code of Conduct Meeting during their P.E. class led by Mrs. Torrey Castaneda, Assistant Principal. These meetings are designed to help students better understand campus expectations and the guidelines outlined in Lamar CISD's Secondary Student Code of Conduct.
Throughout the presentation, students will discuss important topics such as personal electronic devices on campus, horseplay and fighting, dress code requirements, and other behaviors and consequences addressed in the district's code of conduct. Our goal is not simply to review rules, but to equip students with the information they need to make positive choices, avoid disciplinary situations, and contribute to a safe and respectful learning environment.
