WELCOME TO THE WERTHEIMER LIBRARY!
The mission of Lamar Consolidated ISD Libraries is to create a physical and digital environment in which our students, staff, and community can strengthen their natural inquisitive nature, foster a love of reading, and serve as a collaborative resource for teachers and staff in developing and delivering powerful learning experiences across all curricular areas.

Damaged Library Books:
When a book is returned damaged or beyond repair, the replacement cost of the book will be charged. Damage to library materials include but is not limited to: spills from food, drinks, or other substances; damage to cover or spine; cutting or tearing of pages; or writing with pencil, pen, markers, etc.
Lost Books:
Once a book is 30 days past due, the system will mark it as “lost”, and students will be charged for the replacement cost of the book. If the book is found and returned in good condition, the fee will be dropped. If the student has already paid for the book but finds it and returns it in good condition (during the same school year), the amount paid will be refunded.
Cash or personal checks are acceptable forms of payment for fines for damaged or lost books. Please make personal checks out to Wertheimer Middle School.

Wertheimer MS Library
All are invited and welcome in the Wertheimer Library. We like to say it is the best place in school and truly believe that. There are literally thousands of books from which to choose in both print and digital formats, lots of technology tools for you to use and many fun clubs and learning activities to participate in. Come on in and check it out!
Library Policies
Students can check out 3 books at a time to keep for 3 weeks. Books can be renewed for an additional 3 weeks if necessary. Only 1 graphic novel can be checked out at a time due to the high demand for these books. There are no late fees for overdue books, but if a book is lost a fine will be charged for the replacement cost of the book. If the book is found and returned, the fine will be deleted. Books damaged beyond reasonable repair are subject to replacement cost as well.
Hours
The Wertheimer Library is open every day from 9:05 am – 4:30 pm. Students visit the library every other week on a rotating basis with their Social Studies class for lessons and circulation.
During class, students may visit the library at the teacher’s discretion, once all classwork is completed.
The Beanstack Reading Challenge
Wertheimer's reading program, The Beanstack Reading Challenge, is a district wide reading program!
Teachers, students, and all support staff are participating in this reading challenge for the 2026-27 school year.
The Beanstack app is located in Classlink. Students should read at least 20 minutes per day and log their time using the Beanstack app.
