Dear Wertheimer Families,
We continue to be incredibly proud of our Hawks and the progress they are making as they adjust to middle school life. Each day, we see students becoming more confident with managing their schedules, arriving to class on time, and navigating campus routines. Even more importantly, we see them taking ownership of their learning by keeping up with their materials, participating in classroom discussions, and staying engaged in instruction. The growth we have seen in just the first few days has been impressive, and we know there is even more success ahead!
Next week, students will participate in their Beginning-of-Year MAP assessments during their regular ELAR and Math classes. MAP assessments provide valuable information about each student's academic growth and help our teachers personalize instruction to meet student needs throughout the year. Reading MAP testing will take place on August 24-25, and Math MAP testing will take place on August 26-27. Since testing will occur during students' normal class periods, our campus will continue operating on its regular schedule.
To help students do their very best, please remind them to:
- Get a good night's sleep each night.
- Eat a healthy breakfast before school.
- Arrive on time and ready to learn.
- Avoid appointments and early checkouts on testing days.
- Give their best effort and show what they know!
We also want to remind families that teachers will finalize progress report grades on Friday, August 28, with the finalized progress report grade posted on September 1. One of the best ways to stay connected to your child's academic progress is by checking Skyward regularly. Grades, attendance, and missing assignments can change quickly, and frequent monitoring helps students stay accountable while giving families the opportunity to celebrate successes and address concerns early. A quick check-in to Skyward each week can make a big difference!
I want to thank you for your continued partnership, encouragement, and support. Together, we're helping our Hawks build the habits, confidence, and responsibility they need to thrive in middle school and beyond.
Have a wonderful weekend, and as always... Protect the Nest!

Then snap a picture and share it on Facebook, tagging Wertheimer Middle School so we can celebrate your commitment alongside ours.

As the 2026-2027 school year kicks off, families can stay informed by downloading the ParentSquare mobile app to receive the latest news from your students' teachers, campus, and the district. Students can also stay in the loop by downloading StudentSquare, the student version of ParentSquare. Both mobile apps are free to download on iOS and android devices.
Students can download StudentSquare to:
- Receive messages from school by email, text, or mobile app.
- Send messages to their teachers and staff at school.
- Stay in the loop regarding late start days, extracurricular activities, and class projects.
- Subscribe to calendars, RSVP for events, complete forms, use sign-up sheets, and participate in groups.
Once the app is downloaded, students can log in with their District Microsoft account using their student email account. Thank you for helping keep our #LamarCISD community informed!
